Are You Choosing The Words That Attract What You Want?

Are You Choosing The Words That Attract What You Want?

Most parents choose their words a little more carefully when the kids are around. They want to say things in the right way and not use negative words or profanity for fear it will influence a growing mind.

Guess what?

Your mind and brain are growing too!! All the time.

And the way you speak to yourself affects not only your mood, but physically changes your brain by releasing stress chemicals or happy brain chemicals and growing a new neural pathway either way!

Plus your words affect how you feel and you attract how you feel!

When you feel bad (any “down” emotion like sad, frustrated, disappointed, anger, pessimistic) it’s a good practice to look at the mind as “the observer” and ask . . .

What must the mind believe in order for me to feel bad?

The same can be said of the language of your thoughts:

  • how to uncover the language of your thoughts
  • which words cause your brain the most stress and which attract more joy
  • how to reinvent your vocabulary to change your life!

And don’t forget to also post your POWER words of LOVE that make you feel GREAT!!!
I’d love to create a handbook of these words and the UPGRADES so we ALL can benefit!

What are you thinking? Right now?

Write it out and then look at it as if it’s a sentence in a book.

I’ll give an example . . .

Here’s a thought you might have sometimes . . .

“I didn’t get anything accomplished today”

Ask the question . . . what does the mind believe in order to think this?

It is unlikely that you just sat in one place and literally didn’t move or do anything- so what is the mind’s perception that would lead to this thought? And how does it make you feel?  Is it a feeling you want to have often?

So in this case, the mind likely believes things like . . .

“Only certain accomplishments COUNT.”

Or

“I didn’t meet other people’s expectations.”

Or

“I should have gotten these 10 things done on top of everything else.”

The mind has beliefs that dictate some rules and a sense of what is acceptable as an accomplishment vs what is not.

How can you rewrite the language?

One example would be “Today I accomplished x, y and z and next I’d like to . . . ”

Or

“Today I gave my all to the things I did accomplish.”

See how that shifts how you feel?

Here’s another example:
“I was rude with a co-worker today but I have to fight for what I want.”
What does the mind believe?
Possibilities . . .

Speaking your mind is rude.
The co-worker is an enemy or in competition.
Only one of you can get your way.
Good people are never rude.
Stating your expectations or needs is rude.
It’s an either/or situation and one of you has to lose.

The list goes on . . .

RUDE and FIGHT are words that stress you and your brain. They are FEAR based and all thoughts (and things) are LOVE or FEAR.

How could you rephrase this thought?

Possibilities . . .

I expressed myself and will continue to help my coworker try to understand.
It is possible to find a win win situation.
Collaboration and cooperation is a sign of strength.
I may have been perceived as rude and that’s ok. I’m human. I’ll reword my point of view and work for understanding.
When I express what I want with love, it usually happens.
I wasn’t being rude, just stating facts and my coworker has a choice of their emotion.

I’m continually looking to upgrade the language of my thoughts because it feels so good when I do.

Just the other day, I was with a meditation teacher and we were practicing being the observer of our thoughts. She was describing a hectic daily situation and she said:
“It’s just a circumstance.”

I use the statement “all events are neutral” sometimes but realized that more often I say “situation”.

SITUATION? Doesn’t that sound like a problem?? I’m working right now to upgrade to . . . circumstance . . . harmless . . . uneventful 🙂

I have a long list of words I’ve released because they stress me out and I encourage you to become aware of which words affect YOU that way.

Some of these words are:

Mistake, Fail, Messed Up, Should, Can’t, Forgot, Behind or Late, Regret, Want (Like desire as want implies lack), Confess, Worried, Anxious, Guilty, Have to, Wrong, Broken, Fix, Freaking Out, Stupid, Don’t Deserve, Expected To, Out of My Control, Happening To Me, Right Decision, Tolerate, Procrastinate, Avoid, Hide, Searching, Seeking, Uneasy, Uncertain, Stress

Now I’m going to go a little deeper, Spiritually speaking . . .

I try not to use the word MY.
We have nothing and we are all one 🙂  I also don’t rely on HOPE . . . I TRUST and KNOW there is divine order and purpose is LOVE. (If I lost on you those two . . . just let it simmer and PS by not relying on Hope I don’t mean a lack of optimism).

I TRUST and KNOW there is divine order and purpose is LOVE. (Click to Tweet!)
